Graded Assignment Write an Evaluation of an Argument

Critical thinking as a product of student work involves analysis, interpretation, and problem solving to create new thought. There are gradations of critical thinking that score higher than others, though we consider all of them to be important towards development. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among reading, writing, discourse, and reflection, and its impact on critical thinking. The researcher analyzed processes where students participated in activities that allowed for the development and demonstration of critical thinking skills. This mixed methods study was conducted in a Mid-western school district with eighth grade students for the duration of one school year. It examined how students engaged in critical thinking through online written discourse. Students shared their ideas about a topic in synchronous formats. Data sources included typed online student conversations, surveys, rubric scores, and interviews with students. Based upon the data col.

The article deals with EU judicial rhetoric and aims to demonstrate how a selection of modal adverbs of certainty (indeed, clearly, (not) necessarily and of course) are used in the Opinions of the Advocates General at the European Court of Justice (ECJ). To this end, it focuses on the rhetorical functions of these adverbs, such as adding emphasis, showing a high degree of commitment and backgrounding alternative viewpoints. The study applies the notions of stance and engagement (Hyland, 2005) and builds on the research into modal adverbs of certainty reported in Simon-Vandenbergen and Aijmer (2007). In summary, the analysis sheds light on the rhetorical potential of modal adverbs, stressing the dialogic dimension of legal opinion writing.

The major problem of this study is the English anti-slavery poetry rhetoric from 1780 to 1865 that leads to abolishment of slavery, slave trade and racial discrimination in the United Kingdom, its domains and America. Accordingly, this thesis focused upon ten antislavery poets. The researcher has used the formalistic and deconstructionist approaches to analyse and interpret their poems: William Cowper, Hannah More, by William Blake, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Phyllis Wheatley, Laurence Dunbar, Claude McKay, Countee Cullen and Langston Hughes. This research has found that the bone of contention of slave trade and racial discrimination is colour and that only the whites who introduced and abolished slave trade and racial discrimination. In addition, Africans have proved being faithful believers in the God’s decision and fates because they did not resist slavery, slave trade or racism but show tolerance, piety and forgivingness and endurance of every mistreatment and oppression.

A handful of research studies have investigated the effect of writing centre tutorials on subsequent revisions. This classroom-based study adds to that research by reporting results from a collaborative study between a composition professor and a writing centre tutor. The aim of the study was to examine the influence of writing centre tutorials on immediate student revisions as well as final drafts. The analysis was extensively framed by the Vygotskyan sociocultural model of language and cognitive development with an emphasis on tutor-student engagement as reciprocal interaction which include directive feedback and consequential revision. This study employed a qualitative design with students in a sophomore-level core composition course. Participants attended a writing centre session concerning their major writing assignment. Data triangulation included analysis of assignment drafts, observation notes, and tutorial transcripts. Findings revealed that students attended to feedback th.
